OZ BBQ
“Barbie” in Oz-land is what the rest of the world calls BBQ or Bar-B-Que. Also spelt
as “Barbecue”, this word implies a technique and way of cooking that is pertinent to
meat. Meat when treated to gases, fire and/or charcoal while dipped or marinated in
sauce can be the perfect recipe for a BBQ. As far as barbeque cooking is concerned,
this can be cooked on a BBQ cooker and is mostly an outdoor activity. To eliminate
the smoke doused out of charcoal or the gas coming from burning wood, BBQs are
mostly kept in the backyard or the out house in open spaces. BBQ is not a ready made
dish; it is mostly the method of preparing a BBQ delicacy.

Types of BBQ:
There are many types of BBQs available in the market. Several popular ones include:
- Grills—Often, grilling is confused with Barbequing. In fact grilling is to
keep the meat directly on the grills so that it cooks faster since it is directly over the
heat.
- Gas Grills—in gas grilling, the meat cooks from the gas but does not
acquire that distinct flavour that comes when meat is cooked in a smoke pit or in
charcoal.
- Barbeque pits—these barbeque pits come with a box possibly made for
barbequing. This takes longer time than grilling.
- Water Smokers—Water heated to boiling point sticks to wood particles.
The flavour of the smoke is settled on the meat and makes the meat yummier to
taste.
Barbeque your way:
Barbeque cooking is a pleasure task. The most popular types of Barbeques are
barbeque chicken, barbeque pork and barbeque beef. You might be interested in the
following tips while having a BBQ gala at home:
- Do not overcook the meat because that will make it lose its flavour.
- Also, do not keep the meat under cooked. It is susceptible to bacteria and
infection when exposed in air.
- Use clean plates to keep your cooked meat on.
- If you’re making hamburgers, press the hamburger in the middle so that it
prevents the food from dripping out of the sides.
- Use fresh and soft meat to make your BBQ all the more delicious to taste.
Let the coals heat properly for about half an hour so that they reach the
desired temperature for cooking.
- Clean up the BBQ when you’re done cooking to avoid a messy BBQ next time.
